On National Cat Day, author and illustrator Andrea Burris and her husband visited Key Elementary to announce the donation of her books The Kitty Cat Alphabet and Blue Stew to the Key library.
But that's not all! Andrea Burris and her twin sister, Anna Schad, who cowrote The Kitty Cat Alphabet, are donating their books to every Tulsa Public Schools elementary school. The donation also includes their book about dogs who love potatoes, Tator and Tot, and a puzzle featuring the art from one of the books.
In total, they generously donated 1,600 books to enrich classrooms and help inspire a love of reading among young learners.
Their donation to Tulsa Public Schools reflects their deep commitment to education and their desire to give back to the community that shaped their early years. Both Andrea and Anna attended Lindbergh Elementary as young girls and went on to earn degrees in fine arts from the University of Tulsa.
“We are incredibly grateful to Andrea and Anna for their thoughtful donation,” said Moises Echeverria, President & CEO of the Foundation for Tulsa Schools. “These books will help inspire and engage young readers. Andrea and Anna’s generosity exemplifies the power of community and the lasting impact individuals can have on the lives of many.”
